In Wavre, ENGIE Fabricom has installed 282 light points with LED bulbs and smart technology such as motion detectors and intensity control relating to the time and user traffic. The energy savings resulting from this smart lighting could be up to 86%.
Schools of tomorrow in Flanders
Flanders is experiencing a shortage of school buildings. ENGIE is participating in the Flemish authorities’ Schools of Tomorrow project. For 46 of the 165 projects representing 200 buildings, ENGIE Fabricom has been entrusted with their electricity, data cabling, telephony, automation, fire safety, lighting, etc. ENGIE Axima is in charge of sanitation, heating and ventilation.

30% savings on the energy bill for the OPZ Rekem
In October 2015, ENGIE Cofely and the Public Centre for psychiatric care (OPZ) in Rekem signed the first contract for energy services in the public sector in Flanders, in which the provider guarantees a 30% reduction of the customer’s energy bill. Specifically, during 9 years, ENGIE Cofely will take care of the maintenance of the technical facilities of the OPZ with full guarantee.
Energy savings at Chirec
ENGIE Fabricom is responsible for the electrification of the new hospital of the Chirec Hospital Group located in Auderghem, with particular attention to energy-saving measures. ENGIE Axima was awarded the contract for the heating systems of this new Brussels hospital group, including two boilers with exchangers, heat pumps, several chillers, all the pipework and 100 m2 of solar panels for hot water production.
Energy comfort for the Sint-Maarten hospital patients
At the new Sint-Maarten hospital in Mechelen, ENGIE Axima is responsible for all facilities: heating, climatisation, ventilation, medical gases or air transport.
First class electrical installations for the Bordet hospital
Companies need an efficient electrical installation, reliable and sometimes complex. ENGIE is at the forefront in this area. In early October 2016, it has launched through its subsidiary ENGIE Fabricom, the realization of the electrical installations of the 80,000 m2 extension of the Bordet hospital in Brussels.
10 energy-efficient Sportoase sports centra
ENGIE Cofely builds and operates sports and recreation centers through its subsidiary Sportoase. The 10th Sportoase sports complex in Halle, was the result of collaboration between ENGIE Cofely (shareholder), ENGIE Axima (HVAC/plumbing) and ENGIE Fabricom (electrical systems). The result: 30% less energy consumption compared to that of a conventional sports complex.
