ENGIE acquires Sungevity International

ENGIE announces the acquisition of Sungevity International, a leading innovative company specialised in servicing an installing solar solutions for residential and small commercial customers. The company is active in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom. For ENGIE, the acquisition is a big leap forward in the solar space.

Solar energie: ENGIE’s main growth poles for renewable energy

The energy sector is currently experiencing a revolution in which electricity production from the sun plays an essential role. It is a sustainable and profitable energy source, even without subsidies. This technology represents for ENGIE a growing line with its strategy for the development of new, innovative activities in the field of decentralized, low-carbon and digitized energy. In addition, the installation of photovoltaic panels gives consumers the chance to produce their energy itself and thus to enjoy a structural and significant drop in their electricity bill.

Within this context, ENGIE Electrabel kicked off in the summer of 2016 a partnership with Sungevity International, launching its innovative “hassle-free” solar offer in the Belgium residential market. This partnership, that combines ENGIE Electrabel’s trusting customer base and brand with Sungevity International’s customer centric, web based approach, has proven to be very successful. In only nine months hundredths installations were sold. It strengths ENGIE Electrabel in her ambition to be an important player of solar energy. Recently ENGIE and Sungevity International also started a partnership in the Netherlands.

Today ENGIE takes a step further by acquiring al European activities of Sungevity from the current owner Solar Spectrum Holding LCC. Sungevity International will in an entrepreneurial dynamics continue to operate independently.

Sungevity International: a known and recognized player in solar energy

Driven by its mission to ignite a rooftop revolution, Sungevity International has been offering a superior customer experience for going solar in Europe since 2012. It started her activities in the Netherlands has installed thousands of systems throughout Europe.

Sungevity International strives to deploy the latest technologies, tailored to customers needs. It’s web enabled processes and remote solar design capabilities allow it to optimize solar system design and calculate system performance. Customers can also monitor the performance of their systems online.
